Valentines Day is right around the corner! Men, get your wallets out, and ladies, get your … beds ready?
A recent survey reveals that men prefer not chocolate, candy or teddy bears — but sex on Valentines Day! (Oh my!)
On Valentines Day, Feb. 14, couples everywhere will exchange gifts representing their love for each other. However, there is one thing that men crave more than chocolate and candlelit dinners.
Two thirds of men would rather have sex on Valentines Day. The two-thirds of men wanting sex for Valentine’s Day is more than double the 30 percent of women craving the same thing! Perhaps this idea of wanting more sex is actually a plan to spend less money.
The survey also shows that couples expect their partners to spend way more than what they’re actually willing to shell out on gifts. Also 40 percent of people don’t plan on spending anything on Valentines Day. How completely cruel!
The average person wants chocolate, tech toys and dinner out over flowers, jewelry and a home-cooked meal. The number of people that would rather stay in for the evening has gone up 10 percent from last year.
It so happens that people tend to do the same thing on Valentines day which can get pretty predictable and boring. SEX doesn’t have to be the reason for this season. We are urging you to be SPONTANEOUS this year.
According to our survey, 70% prefer a Valentine’s Day Surprise (be it gift or outing) because it shows how creative, thoughtful and caring your partner is. Based on this, we are going to give you a list of places you can visit on Valentine’s Day.

This tranquil paradise located just an hour’s drive from Victoria Island in Lagos State. This resort offers a unique blend of natural environments which include a fresh water lake, accessible mangrove forest, a savannah, extensive sandy beach and the warm Atlantic sea.

There is Cultural dance displays for guests / residents, fresh palm wine bar with an excellent ocean view, fine dining in elegant restaurants and much more. Other activities include hiking, hunting, horse riding, canoeing, ocean water fishing, aqua aerobics, beach volleyball & football.
This is another beautiful and breath-taking place you can treat your Val to especially if you would like to get to know each other more. There are lots of recreational activities there like the boat paddling, boat rides, water power bikes, you can take a stroll (hand-in-hand) while sipping fresh coconut juice and find your way to the open bar where you’ll both be enthralled by live jazz music. I’m not putting ideas in your head, but there are beautiful suites and chalets at this resort.
Whispering Palms is in the Iworo Badagry Local Government Area, Lagos State.

Impress your Valentine with the most exotic buffet menu put together by Chef Gary and his team: A Bottle of Moet et Chandon Champagn, a Rose for your love, take a picture with your Val at the kissing booth, a violinist will serenade you throughout the night with your favourite tune. Its just N30,000 per couple so, hold your wallet.

The Jazz Hole
The Jazz Hole is a wholesome triple package of good music, good books and good coffee. In addition, it has a collection of African artworks on display and you can relax in its refreshing atmosphere while you sip your wine and whisper sweet nothings into your lover’s ears.
Sheraton Hotel (Ikeja)
Sheratol Hotel, located at 30 Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way, Ikeja, introduces what they call the Exotic Valentine’s Day offer. For the affordable rate of N45,000 per couple, you can experience romance in an exotic atmosphere. This rate includes:

GROUP C: Malls, Cinemas and Movies
There are other cool spots at the malls, like the Ikeja City Mall has Spurs, Rhapsody etc. The Palms in the Island has Chocolate Royale, Soul Lounge etc. If you are taking your Val to the mall, you can try these places.
This option can be quite affordable because you only have to spend like 5k; 3k for watching the movie and 2k for your popcorn and coke. However, I consider cinema-going on Valentine’s day as the least romantic thing to do. Unless you are mixing it up with group B and D.
GROUP D: Your apartment (if you have a lovely apartment and live alone)
Surprise your partner to a candlelit dinner at your apartment. It is reeeeaallly easy. The cheapest and Most romantic ever! Now as easy and cheap as this idea may seem, it requires great level of creativity. Follow my five steps to setting up a romantic scene and thank me later.
Get a small table for two, your reading table works perfectly. However, if you don’t have a reading table, rent a plastic table! It cost……. and …… to rent one. You will need a table and two chairs. Unless you have a small dining table it’s not advisable for you to use that big family dining table. It restricts body contacts and you need that!
Step 2: Your shopping.
Stick with light meals. YES you are gonna have to cook, but pleeaaseee don’t make eba!
So if you are the type of guy who can’t cook, you should be able to fry some chicken and chips. Buy two bottles of wine (a bottle is never enough), a box of chocolates, ice cream, cake, bag of frozen chips and chicken drumsticks.
You can do this right after you close from work today or tomorrow. There is plenty of time. A small bag of chips cost and 4pieces of chicken drumstick cost below N500 at Shoprite, or any supermarket that sells stuff like that. These drumsticks are preferable because it doesn’t take long to cook. Also grab a bottle of ketchup.
The fruit of the season is Watermelon (read our last post on Watermelon), buy a small/medium sized melon which cost just about N400 and one big green apple.
Step 3: Food preparation.
Frozen potato chips are usually fast to cook but gets soft and less crispy if not consumed immediately. So you will have to wait until your partner gets in before you start Frying. Season your chicken, boil for only 10mins and set aside. Fry it after the potatoes.
Slice your watermelon (be creative), place green apples in the centre of a flat plate and arrange the watermelon slices around it. Place inside the fridge to get cold. Fruits are more delicious that way.
Step 4: Setting table
Get a white sheet and cover table with it. White is preferable because it is elegant and it brings out the other colours on the table. Set table with wine cups stuffed with red or fushia pink serviette.
5 minutes before your partner arrives; bring out the wine and fruits. Place the fruits in the centre of the table (serves as flowers), and set the Wine and cake at the opposite sides of the fruits.
Make sure you have your music playing (not too loud please).
When your partner arrives. Do not French-kiss her, she will probably dress her best and you don’t wanna ruin her lipstick. There will be plenty of that after eating.
Pop the bottle of wine and have a little chit chat before proceeding to the kitchen. Do not allow her to follow you! Fry your potatoes, chicken and serve it!
Well you know the rest, Chicken and chips, ice cream and chocolates, and finally, the fruits. Talk, laugh, dance, share kisses and have fun!
If you can afford more, buy her a present and give it to her before she leaves.
