“I have never wanted to be a day less than I am. People say, `I wish I were 30 again.’ Nahhh! I’m very happy here. It’s great. It gets better and better. And then, of course, we die,” -Joan Rivers (2013 interview with AP)
Joan Rivers daughter(and only child), 46-year-old Melissa, announced last night her mother had died following a week on life support at Mount Sinai hospital in New York.
That we’ll never see Fashion Police boss again is a sad sad thing.
Even when Joan Rivers suffered a cardiac and respiratory arrest while undergoing a routine operation on her vocal cords at Yorkville Endoscopy clinic last Thursday, and was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital where she died yesterday, we all thought “oh, she’ll bounce right back and joke all about it”
Joan Rivers had been placed in a medically-induced coma after the health-scare and before her death, she even showed signs of improvement.
Since the Fashion Police boss death, there’s been a lot of love and support messages for friends, celebs, fans… in short everyone who has been touched by her quirky personality, and her crazily (and sometimes mean) hilarious jokes.
Melissa expressed her gratitude for all the love and support herself and her son have been showered with. She said;
“Cooper [my son] and I have found ourselves humbled by the outpouring of love, support, and prayers we have received from around the world. They have been heard and appreciated.”
“My mother’s greatest joy in life was to make people laugh,” Melissa Rivers said. “Although that is difficult to do right now, I know her final wish would be that we return to laughing soon.”
Joan Rivers’ funeral will be held on Sunday at the Temple Emanu-El in Manhattan, New York.
