Two petrol tankers exploded in Kano on Monday resulting in the death of at least 4 workers on board.

The explosion which according to eyewitnesses, occurred at about 6am on in the morning resulted in mass panic along BUK road in Kano state North West Nigeria after two petrol tankers collided.

Eyewitnesses, who told Channels Television that the tanker behind collided with the one in front leading to an explosion, stated that at least 4 people who were on board lost their lives.
They also said that people in the environs erroneously credited the explosion to a bomb planted by the Boko Haram insurgent group which caused a stampede.

Several people sustained injuries from the stampede. Motorists were also seen re-routing to alternative roads available. However, state fire service officials debunked the eyewitnesses’ claims stating that no casualty was recorded.

The officials also stated that the fire has been brought under control and the road has been reopened
