Chief Nitabai Inengite who was abducted early this year on 23 February gains freedom from another abduction.
Six men have been arrested for the abduction of a Chief Nitabai Inengite, who is an Uncle to President Goodluck Jonathan.
According to reports, the abductors include Ibeabuchi Inya (29), Oreva Arbridi, (29), Magnus Jonah (30), Raphael Inengesi (32), Tammy Tamarapreye and Felix Onuoha (48).
Magus Jonah, a 400-level student of the University of Jos from Nembe town Bayelsa State, confessed that he was the mastermind behind the abduction, blaming the long strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities as the reason he dabbled into the illegal business.
The herbalist, Felix Onuoha confessed that his ‘only’ role in the abduction was preparation of the charms for protection and success of the gang’s plan for a 10% cut from the expected ransom. He claimed that he agreed to the plan to save himself and family from the gang’s wrath should he refuse to work with them.
Of all those paraded, Tamarapreye denied his involvement in the abduction. According to him, he was implicated because he had innocently lent his car to Jonah who claimed he needed it for a burial ceremony. he claimed he had no idea his car was the getaway car for the abductors.
It will be recalled that Inengite was kidnapped on February 23, 2014 and held captive at two different locations in the creeks of Brass and Okigbene in Bayelsa State. He, however, regained his freedom after 17 days in the hands of his captors, following operations by security agents.
